Vacancy: Payroll Coordinator/Bookkeeper

MIET Africa, a regional NGO working in education development, requires a Payroll Coordinator/Bookkeeper. This is a 12 month contract position and the successful applicant will be based at MIET Africa's head office in Durban.

Key tasks:
  • Full Pastel payroll functions
  • Full Pastel creditors function to trial balance
  • Collection and sorting of mail
  • Purchasing of branch groceries
  • Provide operational administrative and clerical support services in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the organization
  • Ad hoc operational administrative and clerical support, including data management and filing
  • Switchboard and reception relief
  • Minute taking

Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification in accounting
  • Minimum of three years experience in Pastel Accounting to trial balance, including troubleshooting
  • Minimum of three years experience in Pastel Payroll, including troubleshooting
  • Strict adherence to systems, procedures and controls that ensure the accounting records are correctly and accurately recorded to trial balance
  • Knowledge of SARS statutory compliance
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal ,at management level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Information management and attention to detail
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
  • Collaborative work style and commitment to meet set deadlines
  • Adherence to MIET Africa's confidentiality policy
  • Code 8 driver's licence
  • Experience in the NGO environment would be an advantage

Vacancy: Switchboard and Operations Administrator

MIET Africa, a regional NGO working in education development, requires a Switchboard and Operations Administrator.  This is a 12 month contract position and the successful applicant will be based at MIET Africa's head office in Durban.

Key tasks:
  • Full receptionist functions
  • Full switchboard functions
  • Coordinate bookings for the organization's boardroom
  • Minute taking
  • Manage IT problem reporting queuing system
  • Manage vehicle log book and maintenance of vehicle
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Provide bookkeeping assistance, to trail balance, to bookkeepers
  • Ad hoc: operational administrative and clerical support, including data management and filing

Requirements:
  • Matriculation,and have at least commenced study towards relevant qualification in administration or bookkeeping
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Pastel Accounting to trial balance
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent public relations
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at management level
  • Information management and attention to detail
  • Provide operational administrative and clerical support services in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the organization
  • Adherence to systems, procedures and controls that ensure that theaccounting records are correctly and accurately recorded
